Godwin Yiadom: From Childhood Musician to UK-Based Gospel Minister and Health Worker
Godwin Boakye-Yiadom, popularly known by his showbiz name Godwin Yiadom, is a Ghanaian gospel musician, instrumentalist and health worker whose passion for music dates back to his childhood.
Born with a strong interest in music, Godwin began singing and playing musical instruments at a young age. He later developed a particular passion for the keyboard, an instrument he has majored in from his Junior High School (JHS) days to the present.
His musical journey has continued alongside his professional career in healthcare. Godwin has worked as a health worker in Ghana since 2013 and has been working in the United Kingdom since 2023.
Music Journey
Godwin Yiadom became actively involved in mainstream music around 2010, combining his vocal abilities with his skills as a keyboardist.
During the early stages of his mainstream music career, he recorded several songs, although they did not receive widespread recognition at the time. His musical journey, however, saw him work with a number of established Ghanaian gospel musicians, including Bro Sammy, Oware Jnr, Osuani K Afrifa and Obaapa Christy.
Beyond his individual music career, Godwin has also played an important role in choral music.
Formation of Soul Melodians
Between 2010 and 2013, while pursuing his tertiary education at Fomena, Godwin formed the choir Soul Melodians.
The group has remained an important part of his musical journey, reflecting his passion for gospel music, choral ministry and collective worship.
Recent Releases
After years of musical involvement, Godwin Yiadom continues to release music that reflects his Christian faith and personal experiences.
In 2025, he released “Gratitude (Aseda)”, featuring gospel musician Oware Jnr. The song centres on thanksgiving and appreciation to God.
His next project is scheduled for release in 2026. Titled “Covenant Keeping God,” the upcoming song features Kweku Teye and is expected to further showcase Godwin’s musical and ministry journey.
Balancing Healthcare and Music
Godwin Yiadom’s story is one of balancing two demanding paths: healthcare and music. While he has built a professional career as a health worker, his passion for music has remained consistent from childhood through his adult life.
From learning the keyboard during his JHS years, becoming active in mainstream music, forming Soul Melodians during his tertiary education, and continuing his music career after moving to the UK, Godwin has maintained his connection to gospel music.
With “Covenant Keeping God” awaiting release, Godwin Yiadom continues to pursue his musical calling while serving professionally in the healthcare sector.
