About the Kufuor Scholars Program
The Kufuor Scholars Program, established under the John A. Kufuor Foundation, supports brilliant but financially challenged students in Ghanaian universities. It delivers a specialized three-year leadership development program designed to prepare young people for national and global responsibilities.
The program excludes first-year students and targets individuals who have completed at least one academic year. Its focus is to complement formal tertiary education with mentorship, skills training, and experiential learning. Through this approach, the program nurtures leaders who are innovative, critical thinkers, and problem solvers.
The John A. Kufuor Foundation envisions peaceful, well-governed, and economically sustainable societies in Ghana and across Africa. It emphasizes the strong connection between leadership, governance, and development.
Eligibility Requirements for Kufuor Scholars Program
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be Ghanaian nationals.
- Have completed Level 100 and be advancing to Level 200 in any academic discipline at a Ghanaian university.
- Demonstrate leadership interest and experience.
- Exhibit integrity, commitment to service, and the ability to lead.
- Show nationalistic orientation and capacity to promote tolerance, human rights, and ethnic coexistence.
- Be no older than 23 years at the time of application.
Nature of the Award
Successful applicants of the Kufuor Scholars program will benefit from:
- Leadership mentoring, camps, excursions, seminars, webinars, internships, and personal project execution over three years.
- A stipend of GHC 500 per semester and branded paraphernalia.
- Opportunities to participate in international exchange programs.
