Award winning Ghanaian artiste Kofi Kinaata has revealed in an interview that because of his intense affection for animals, he had avoided eating meat for more than 20 years.
In an interview with Hitz FM on December 9, 2025, the ‘Have Mercy’ hitmaker talked about his eating habits, pets, and lifestyle choices.
Kinaata made it publicly known that despite his love for dogs, he does not currently own a dog as a pet due to his busy lifestyle.
“Cat is not my favorite pet; I prefer dogs. I love animals so much. I used to have dogs but due to my busy schedules, I gave all out,” he said.
The musician Kofi Kinaata stressed that his love of animals is a big factor in his total abstinence from meat, with the exception of fish.
Although Kofi Kinaata did not reveal what motivated the decision, he stressed that it has been a long-standing lifestyle choice.
“I have rabbits, birds and cats. I can only eat fish. I don’t take meat. I haven’t eaten meat for over 25 years,” he stated.
