Stonebwoy dropped from the tall list of artists performing at Ghana Victory Concert by Ghana Victory Concert Organizers (NDC Youth Wing).
Why did they drop Stonebwoy? All you need to know.
Stonebwoy, a Reggae/Dancehall artiste, was initially slated to perform at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Victory Concert on January 5, 2025. The party was announcing artists passing through till they announced Stonebwoy.
However, following significant opposition from the party’s grassroots supporters, he was removed from the lineup. The hashtag #DropStonebwoy trended on social media, reflecting the discontent among party members regarding his inclusion.
Some netizens came out to defend Stonebwoy stating that he has joined several youth protests but these protests are non-partisan and not supported by any political parties.
Critics argue this backlash ignores the fact that Stonebwoy supported non-partisan causes like #OccupyJulorbiHouse, which was a stand against governance issues, not party politics.
Although Stonebwoy has supported youth activism and joined some demonstrations, he’s also made it clear several times that he’s not aligned with the NDC or NPP.
Organizers apologized to Stonebwoy and acknowledged the concerns of the party’s grassroots members, calling the decision unfortunate.
This incident has fueled conversations about the intersection of politics, music, and public sentiment. What’s your take?
