Today, MTV said that the 2023 Video Music Awards will be broadcast live on MTV on September 12, 2023, from the Prudential Center in New Jersey. People in more than 150 countries and 319 million homes will be able to watch the game.
Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programming, and Events at Paramount and Chief Content Officer, Music, at Paramount+, said, “We’re thrilled to be back at the Prudential Center in Newark for this year’s VMAs.” “Since last year’s event went so well, our goal has been to celebrate one of our biggest nights in music with the Garden State’s amazing fans.” The mayor of Newark, Ras J. Baraka, also said something.
“The fact that MTV chose Newark to host the “VMAs” in 2022 and 2019 and now the “VMAs” in 2023 echoes our city’s long history as a center of musical genius. “From America’s first known composer in 1759 to the jazz explosion in the 1920s and today’s full range of genres, from hip hop to opera, Newark has been America’s turntable for harmonic expression,” said Baraka. “I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the Video Music Awards are held in Newark, which is where the first nitrocellulose patent for the film and video industry was filed. Newark continues to be at the crossroads of film and music.”
