Tourists visiting the vibrant city of Jakarta were given a memorable taste of Ghanaian culture last Friday May 9, 2025 – thanks to a captivating performance by the Sabelor Cultural Group, one of Ghana’s premier traditional music and dance ensembles.
The performance was part of a tour organized by Asem Travel and Tours, a company known for curating global experiences for Ghanaian travelers. As part of their cultural tour package, Sabelor Cultural Group was contracted to provide live entertainment, showcasing Ghana’s rich artistic heritage abroad.
The event took place at Central Park Mall, one of Jakarta’s busiest cultural hubs. The lively performance drew not only Ghanaian tourists, but also multinational visitors and locals, all of whom were captivated by the vibrant rhythms, colorful costumes, and traditional dances.
Sabelor performed a wide selection of folk songs from their repertoire, seamlessly blending singing, drumming, and dance. While Ghanaian attendees joined in heartfelt sing-alongs, other tourists eagerly danced along, creating a shared celebration of African culture that transcended language and nationality.
Speaking after the event, members of Sabelor Cultural Group shared that their appearance in Indonesia was part of their ongoing world tour. They revealed that upcoming stops will include New York and Atlanta, with additional plans to perform in Europe and other parts of Africa before the end of the year.
Formed in 2015, Sabelor Cultural Group continues to make strides in promoting Ghanaian cultural music on the global stage, spreading joy and cultural pride through every performance.
