Your Cyber Guardian Once Again Empowers Students with Cybersecurity Awareness at Glorious Haven Montessori School .

On March 12, 2026, Your Cyber Guardian, the student-focused cybersecurity initiative led by Salamatu Chator Ibrahim, returned with another impactful outreach, this time at Glorious Haven Montessori School.

The program brought together young students, educators, and cybersecurity professionals for a day of learning, engagement, and empowerment.

The day was kicked off with an introduction and MCing by the founder, Salamatu Chator Ibrahim. It featured special guest speakers, including Elom Daniel, a forensic investigator from Hive Consult, and Martha Agbenyegah, a cybersecurity professional from the Maxim Nyansa Foundation, alongside Rafiatu Ibrahim, the Executive Director of Your Cyber Guardian.

Rafiatu Ibrahim engaged students on the topic of cyberbullying, teaching them how to recognize the signs and support friends who may be experiencing online harassment. Students learned practical steps to avoid cyberbullying and how to become active allies in protecting their peers.

Elom Daniel’s session focused on phishing, where students discovered how scammers exploit digital footprints to trick users. He provided guidance on recognizing phishing emails, SMS messages (smishing), and even suspicious social media messages on platforms like TikTok. Students were taught the importance of reporting suspicious activity to trusted adults and avoiding sharing personal information online.

Martha Agbenyegah raised awareness about sextortion, explaining how innocent online interactions can be manipulated by predators to exploit young people. She emphasized the importance of protecting privacy, being cautious while playing games or meeting people online, and seeking help immediately when faced with threats.

The program included interactive question-and-answer sessions, distribution of learning materials, and interviews where students shared what they had learned. The responses were heartening, students could confidently explain concepts like cyberbullying, phishing, and sextortion, reflecting the effectiveness of the outreach.

Teachers at Glorious Haven Montessori praised the initiative, noting the importance of cybersecurity education for children in today’s digital age and expressed interest in hosting future sessions to continue equipping their students with vital online safety skills.

In her closing remarks, Salamatu encouraged students to become “cyber guardians” themselves, spreading awareness within their homes and communities to create safer digital spaces for everyone.

With the rise of cyber threats like phishing, online bullying, and sextortion in Ghana, initiatives like Your Cyber Guardian are playing a critical role in educating the next generation to be vigilant, responsible, and empowered digital citizens.
